Gatton Futurity
We had a successful day at the Droughmaster Gatton Futurity today. Chief was 2nd in his class (Bulls 7mths and under 9 mths). He went on to be Reserve Champion Bull calf. Aura won her class (Heifers 18mths and under 20 mths). She went on to be Champion Heifer. These amazing results also meant that we won the most points for a first time exhibitor. Again, a big thank you to Les and Leanne at Leegra Fitting Service for all their efforts on our behalf. Also, congratulations for being awarded Senior Herdsperson. Also, congratulations to all Studs that were in attendance, and helped to make the day the success that it was.
Goomeri Show
It was a very warm day for the Goomeri Show today. There was a strong representation in most classes. Today, Chief and Aura were judged against all breeds. Chief finished 2nd in his class, which was a great achievement given he was in the under 12mths bull class, and he is only 7mths old; and Aura won her class. Thanks again to Les and Leanne at Leegra Fitting Service for their efforts on our behalf (including standing out in that heat).
Toowoomba Royal Show
We ventured up to Toowoomba for the cattle judging at the Toowoomba Royal Show. There were seven droughtmaster studs in attendance. It was a successful day for us, with Chief winning Calf Champion Droughtmaster Bull, and Aura was the Junior Champion and Grand Champion Female Droughtmaster. It was a great result, with thanks to Les and Leanne from Leegra Fitting Service for all their efforts on our behalf.
Kingaroy Show
We ventured out to Kingaroy for judging in the South Burnett Show today. There was plenty of competition with Chief being judged against all Tropical breeds. The day was owned by the Brahmans, who pretty much made it a clean sweep of the ribbons. With the World Brahman Congress in Rockhampton in a few weeks, it was good to see them out in force. Chief finished 3rd in his class - bull under 12mths. Thanks to Les and Leanne at Leegra Fitting Service for doing what they do for us.
Boonah Droughtmaster Feature Show
It was the Droughtmaster Feature Show at Boonah over the weekend. It was great to see so many Droughtmaster Studs represented. Another very successful day for Chief , especially due to the high quality of the competition. Chief won his class - Bull 6mth and under 9mths, and then went on be the Reserve Champion Male Calf. A huge thanks to Les from Leegra Fitting Service, who did an excellent job on our behalf.
Sunshine Coast Show
Today we headed to Nambour for the Sunshine Coast Agricultural Show. It was a successful day for Chief, winning his class - Tropical Bull under 12mths. A great result given he is only 10mths old. Thanks again to Les and Leanne from Leegra Fitting Service for preparing and showing Chief on our behalf.
Woodford Show
Today was a trip to the Woodford Show. There was a strong showing of Droughtmasters, and it was good to see so many quality Droughties out in the ring. Chief had a good day, winning his class and then going on to be Reserve Junior Champion Bull. Congratulations to all studs in attendance, and as always, a big Thank you to Les and Leanne at Leegra Fitting Service.
The Ekka
The Droughtmaster judging at the Ekka is over for another year. Thanks to Les and Leanne at Leegra Fitting Service for all their efforts with Chief, he looked great. His scans were brilliant for such a young bull at 12 months of age. Unfortunately, he didn't catch the judges' eye, and didn't ribbon today. It was great to see so many quality Droughtmasters out in the ring, and congratulations to all exhibitors. We are looking forward to the next outing at The Mary Valley Show.
Mary Valley Show
The sun was shining brightly on the Mary Valley Show today. There were some large classes in the cattle judging, and it was good to see so many cattle out in the ring. Chief finished 3rd in his class (bull 6mth and under 12mth). Once again, Les and Leanne from Leegra Fitting Service have done a great job ...Chief looked great.
Wondai Show
A quick trip out to the Wondai Show today. Chief had his last run in the under 12mths class. He steps up a class at the next show. He didn't ribboon today, but it's always great to see one of your own out there in the mix. The Brahmans took 1st and 2nd in his class, with the 3rd place given to a Santa Gertrudis bull. All were great little bulls, but not for our herd!! :-) Thanks again to Les and Leanne at Leegra Fitting Service.
